Homestyle dinner

I made a chicken pot pie today from scratch!  It smelled amazing while it was baking.  I had been anticipating that Nick would be home around 9, so I finished cooking around 8:30 to give it plenty of time to cool.  Around 9, Tristan and I were sitting at the window waiting for Nick to drive up.  I got a phone call instead, and he told me he wouldn't be home for another hour and a half.  Well, phooey.  Into the fridge my lovely creation went.  At least Tristan fell asleep while we were waiting so now I can catch up on my blogging.  After I clean the bathroom.  Even though I haven't got much exciting stuff going on right now.

Sunday Nick invited some people from the ward over to have dinner and play games.  I made a pan of chicken enchiladas and also served up my apple pie from the other day.  We only played one game though, and it lasted for hours!  Quelf.  Ever heard of it?  Let me tell you, you have to be very comfortable with yourself in order to play, because you will end up doing some crazy things.  One of the guys, poor dear, had to speak like a pirate, say everything twice, and laugh whenever anyone else laughed.  It was terrible!!  We all had a severe laughing fit for about 10 minutes.  Oh man, like, he was laughing like a drunken pirate.  Then what's worse?  We got a card that said if we shared the same space, we shared the same rules, so we were all laughing like drunken pirates for awhile there!  Luckily the worse I had to do was build a fort out of blankets and chairs and sit in it.  Well, I also had to give an inflight speech, but that wasn't too bad.  Oh yeah, actually the worse was when I got a classified card that made me plug my nose, fan the air and say, sorry guys, I just let one rip.  Then the insane pirate laughter went on again.  Let me tell you, you really learn a lot about people when it comes to a game of randomness!

Halloween, yeah we sorta skipped it and went to Walmart instead.  I know, lame.  Some lady shouted at us while we were walking in the door "No costumes??  I'm going to show him the scrapbook page when he's older and he'll be disappointed!"  Ok, that was very weird….  We did get Tristan a winter suit so he can stay warm when we go outside, since it did snow today.  Even more lame!  At least that means we are that much closer to me being able to put up my Christmas decorations.  I always do it before Thanksgiving, and Nick thinks I'm crazy.  Oh well, you only get to enjoy them for a short time out of the year, might as well make the most of it!!

Hmmmmm, what else?  Ah, I showered today.  I know you might be thinking, what the heck?  You should shower every day you nasty person.  But having a baby attached to your hip makes it a little difficult.  Last nigh Tristan ate a whole bowl of rice cereal, so today, he had some ickies in his pants (x 3).  I'm assuming all the effort tired him out, because he took like a 3 hour nap.  Plenty of time for me to shower, and shave my legs even!  That happens even less often.  Though, I love winter, because I can hide my hairy legs beneath tights and long pants.  Not that I bother getting out of my PJs very much anymore.  Being a stay at home mom kinda turns you into a slob at first I think.  My house is always clean now, but haha, sometimes I'm not.  At least my husband still loves me haha

Crazy game of Quelf
