Sulfur Meltdown

This morning was Tristan's first official meltdown.  Started around 5, ended around 10.  Nick and I both woke up to him screaming, which usually means, feed me I'm hungry.  So I got up, changed his diaper, and started to feed him.  Only he would not eat.  I tried everything, rocking him, swaddling him, unswaddling him, giving him sugar water…..nothing.  He would just play around, get mad, and scream his head off.  Finally, I switched sides and the little booger started to eat.  Only took me about 20 minutes….so I was peeved and frazzled.  Then, he finished super fast, fell asleep, and Nick took over.  Apparently he rocked him for an hour and a half before he fell asleep.  But the minute he got set down in his crib…..he freaked out and started screaming again.  So, out of bed I got and fed him…..again.   Then I rocked him for half an hour and tried to put him down, again he started screaming.  Frustrated, I went out to the computer chair in the livingroom, hoping the gentle bubbling of the fishtanks would lull him to sleep.  And half an hour later, it did.  So I snuck back into the bedroom, laied him down in his crib, turned on his musical seahorse and crept away.  I bet you can guess what happened next.

…….I ended up feeding him yet again……by this point my nerves were fried and I was running on empty, but the boy just wanted more to eat!!!  And, he'd started farting these super rancid farts that almost made me barf.  I bed he was tired, hungry and in pain from all the gas churning around in his tummy.  I finally said, enough! stormed out to the fridge, grabbed the bottle I had pumped the day before and had Nick give it to him.  Ten minutes later, he was sound asleep.  I started rushing around to make sure our house was semi clean because my brother Josh and his wife Shanna were stopping by to visit.  A few minutes later I heard a, "man Tristan!" from the bedroom.  I guess the little guy decided to share the wealth with daddy as well…….mwahahahaha

Even though we probably had dark circles under our eyes as bad as Jack Sparrow, we had a nice visit with our family.  Josh held Tristan almost the whole time he was over and I thought it was adorable.  He kept saying how tiny he was, and when we asked how big their little boy Nathan was when he was born discovered why.  Nathan was 8 lbs!  I thought 6 was big, poor Shanna.  And Nathan is super cute, Nick let him play lego Star Wars on the playstation and he had a blast running bad guys over.   Sadly, they couldn't stay too long, more family to visit.  But I really enjoyed seeing them.  Josh and I are 8 years apart, but even still, I had a great time with him when we were growing up. There was a summer we went fishing almost every day together down Campbell Creek.  Haha then the next year he bought me a trampoline for my birthday…..my parents made him promptly take it back.  But!  We were sneaky, they said we weren't allowed to jump on it because it was going to be returned, so when they went to work, we crawled out my bedroom window into the back yard and had a blast.  It's too bad we live so far apart now, but I am glad they got to come and meet baby Tristan…..even if he was a complete booger this morning!

What? I'm innocent!

Everyone is a little exhausted now.

  1. A six-month-old girl had a meltdown while I was babysitting her once. Luckily her mom wasn't gone very long... hopefully that's Tristan's last one and he will continue to be the calmest baby ever. I'm glad you lived through it :)
